Affiliate disclosure

How we make money, stated plainly and in full.

Last updated 13 October 2026

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon requires that sentence. The rest of this page explains what it means in practice.

How we make money

Internet Marketing Grid is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.

When you click a link to Amazon from this site and buy something, Amazon pays us a commission. You pay the same price you would have paid anyway. Amazon is the only affiliate programme we use, and commission is the only way this site makes money. We do not run advertising.

What this does and does not affect

Earning commission creates a pull: the more you buy, the more we earn. We would rather tell you how we deal with that than claim it does not exist.

  • Commission is part of how we choose what to cover. It is one of eight factors in the Product Opportunity Score, which decides whether we write about a product at all and how prominently. It carries ten points out of a hundred. How we rate lists all eight factors and their weights.
  • The rating out of 10 is a separate number. It is our editorial judgment of the product itself, and we keep it visually apart from the score above.
  • A product cannot buy its way onto this site with a high commission rate. We are also not going to claim the rate is invisible to us.

Tested or researched

Every review says at the top whether it is hands-on or research-based. Hands-on means we used the product ourselves. Research-based means we did not, and the verdict is built from manufacturer specifications, published measurements from people who run labs, and what owners report over time.

As of the date at the top of this page, every review on this site is research-based. If a review does not say hands-on, assume we have not held the product.

Payment and free products

We do not accept payment for a review, a ranking or a placement, and we do not publish sponsored posts. If a manufacturer ever sends us a product, we will say so at the top of that review.

How to spot an affiliate link

  • A notice appears at the top of every page.
  • Buttons that lead to Amazon are labelled “Check price” and open Amazon in a new tab.
  • Each affiliate link is marked as sponsored in the page code, which tells search engines it is a paid link.
  • When in doubt, assume a link to Amazon is an affiliate link.

Prices

Every price is a snapshot, shown with the date it was taken. Amazon sets prices and can change them at any time, so check the current price on Amazon before you buy. We record prices by hand and do not copy them automatically from Amazon.

Cookies

Affiliate links use a tracking cookie so that Amazon can tell a purchase came from us. Amazon’s cookie lasts 24 hours. You can block cookies in your browser and the links will still work. See our privacy policy for how we handle your data on this site.

After you click

When you follow a link to Amazon you leave this site. Amazon controls availability, delivery, returns and customer service, and its own terms apply.

Guidance we follow

This page is provided in line with the US Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255), which asks that material connections such as affiliate commission are disclosed clearly.

Questions and corrections

If something on this page is wrong or unclear, tell us. We will fix it and say that we did. We will update the date at the top whenever this page changes.
